Erosion Control & Waterway Restoration Far North Queensland

Erosion mitigation and waterway restoration across FNQ. Every project upstream of the Great Barrier Reef contributes directly to water quality protection. Vegetation is the most effective and lasting erosion control available.

What We Do

Erosion Control
Services Include

FNQ's high-intensity rainfall and steep catchments make erosion one of the most damaging forces on the landscape. Bare or degraded ground delivers sediment, nutrients, and pollutants directly into waterways — and ultimately into the Great Barrier Reef lagoon.

Native vegetation is the most durable solution. Deep root systems, ground cover density, and canopy interception all reduce runoff and hold soil in place year-round, including through cyclone season.

  • Riparian (riverbank and waterway) revegetation
  • Gully erosion control and stabilisation
  • Native groundcover establishment for bare soil
  • Sediment filter strip planting
  • Post-flood and cyclone erosion remediation
  • Road batters and cut-slope revegetation
  • Contour revegetation on agricultural land
  • Waterway weed removal and bank stabilisation
  • Reef water quality program project delivery
"What the rain takes downstream reaches the Reef. Every waterway restored is a reef restored."

Every Hectare Restored
Protects the Reef

Great Barrier Reef water quality begins upstream.

Every waterway we restore reduces sediment load reaching the Reef. The Great Barrier Reef faces its greatest threats from land-based pollution — sediment, nutrients, and pesticides carried by runoff from FNQ catchments. Queensland government reef water quality programs fund on-ground vegetation restoration specifically to reduce this pollution load.

As an FNQ-based contractor, we are positioned to deliver revegetation projects in the reef catchment zones that matter most — the Wet Tropics, Burdekin, and Tully-Murray drainages that flow directly into the Reef lagoon.

Erosion control revegetation in FNQ is both an ecological and economic priority — and increasingly a government-funded one.

Who This Is For

The right service for
the right landholder

01

Councils & Government

Reef water quality program delivery. Waterway and drainage reserve management. Post-event erosion remediation after floods and cyclones.

02

Agricultural Landholders

Grazing and cropping properties with erosion problems along waterways, gullies, and cleared hillsides. We can revegetate and stabilise without disrupting productive land.

03

Developers

Post-construction erosion control and rehabilitation as required by development approvals, EPBC conditions, and Queensland environmental authority conditions.
